BABEL was the electroacoustic project of Toronto-based musician Jakob Rehlinger. Sometimes more “electro” sometimes more “acoustic”, with BABEL Rehlinger explores creeping melodies in vast drone atmospheres. Active 1999-2017.
Obvious Influences: Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream, Fripp/Eno, Terry Riley, Glenn Branca, Rhys Chatham, Einsturzende Neubauten, Steve Reich, Philip Glass, Pelt, Fred Frith, Loren MazzaCane Connors.
Rehlinger also plays in the psychedelic space-rock band MOONWOOD, records electronic music/sound-collage under the name TRANZMIT, and runs the boutique music micro-label Arachnidiscs Recordings.
